Life of a Housewife

Appointment was a Disappointment

Well Friends, there is still no sign of Spring here. I woke this morning around 6:30 to get Anika up for school to only find it had been cancelled. Yep, we got snow. It wasn't much really but apparently enough to make early morning slick travel. It's been bitterly cold all day. (Sigh) I'm totally ready for Spring.

Since everyone else was sleeping soundly this morning, I got bored being the only one awake. Yep, you guessed it, I went back to bad. Can you say BIG MISTAKE? Yeah, I ended up sleeping till Noon and so did everyone else in this house. Needless to say when we woke at Noon it was rush, rush, rush. I immediately put some Chili on the stove since I had to have it ready before Hubby went to work. I did a quick cleaning of the kitchen & living room while Anika got herself ready. I then got myself ready while Hubby dressed Axle and Anika took care of getting Annalee dressed. We were doing some major teamwork.

Hubby headed out the door at 1:30 for work and although we should have left then too, we were a bit later getting gone. My Mom went with us and all the rushing made her a nervous wreck. Sorry Mom, that is just how we roll. Anika's counseling appointment was at 2:00 and never fear, we made it. We were only about 10 minutes late but it was no biggie. Mom decided to sit in the car with the little ones as long as she could while I went with Anika. This isn't the initial appointment her pediatrician scheduled. Actually, we still have that appointment set for this month. I was just told that this place was wonderful and it's about an hour closer to home so we thought we would try it. Like I told her, if she hated it we would just keep the other appointment when it came about. My first impression of the place wasn't good. They had a secretary that had NO CLUE what she was doing. It also appeared that there were several counselors in the office but they all shared on phone line that was in the main lobby. I have no idea why that bothered me but it did. Anyway, we did the whole fill out our entire life forms and then they told us to go on back to the Counselor's office. I wasn't allowed to stay but about 5 minutes and then they shewed me out the door. That wasn't a problem with me. I know Anika does better opening up when I'm not around and that is OKAY! I wandered up and down the stairs checking on the kids and mom while I waited. I guess Anika was in there about a 1/2 hour and they told me to come on back. I could immediately tell that this lady pretty much "preached" to Anika the whole time. Now I was aware that it was a Christian Counseling group and I'm also aware that telling her about God and what is right and wrong is okay but when you have a child who is struggling and she is pushing away the idea of things like church, preaching to her is probably going to be no help. When I was younger I went to a Christian Counseling group and to be honest, I never even knew they were a Christian Group. My Counselor never preached to me one single time. Let's just say that Anika was not happy and we will not be returning there. We will be keeping our regular appointment with the other counselor. I'm praying it goes better.

After we left the counselors office we were starving. Anika wanted to eat at a little Italian Restaurant. I actually thought it was a new place because I'd never even seen it there before but she informed me that it had been there a year or longer. Yep, I'm real observant apparently. It was a nice restaurant. I thought it was pretty expensive but the portions were large, the atmosphere was nice and the food was good so I didn't complain. They gave us complimentary bread sticks which were absolutely delicious. We actually got 2 whole orders and I brought the 2nd order home because we didn't eat them. Mom and the Kids ordered a pizza and side salads & I got a Calzone and Side Salad. When they brought me the Calzone I about fainted. That thing was HUGE and I mean like really HUGE. I even took a picture. I couldn't have eaten it in 2 days.

I also snapped a picture of Annalee while we were eating. I wanted to show off her new hair but I don't think you can even see it. I finally got just enough pulled up to make her a little Top Knot. She looked so cute. That poor child is never going to get any hair.

We had a good dinner and there wasn't any fussing or fighting so I call that a successful day. Both kids were very well behaved and it was a good time out. I need more outings, it's good for my soul.

After dinner we had planned to go to Walmart but Mommy wasn't feeling well so we just came on home instead. Mom is really struggling with her arthritis. She actually goes to see a specialist in Lexington, Ky soon to see if there is anything they can do to slow it down. She has knots all over her hands, arms and legs now and stays in major pain just about all the time. It's heartbreaking to see her hurt like she does. The worst part is she is so active and it's really slowed down what she's been able to do. That in itself just about kills her.

We got home a bit after 5:00. Mom came in for a few but didn't get to stay long because Axle was crying to go home with her. He loves hanging out at her house. This evening Anika and I jumped in and got the housework under control. I even managed to give the bathroom a fairly decent scrubbing. I've still got laundry washing but for the most part my nightly chores are done. It's always nice to look around and realize that there isn't anything left to do for the night. I spent some time putting together packages that need to be mailed on Friday. Between my Ebay Selling and my Rehash Trading, I'm at the Post Office a lot. I don't mind though, I love Trading and Selling. It keeps me occupied.

I really have no plans for tomorrow. It's supposed to start warming up in the next day or so and I'm really looking forward to that. It will be nice when we can get outside and play. I'm hoping since tomorrow is plan free, I can work in a little Tot School sometime or another. I also need to make time to budget out some bills. Friday is payday and that is always a good day.

Dear Friends, Hope your week is going fabulous- Tomorrow we will be well on our way to the weekend. Before I go, if you pray, please whisper a prayer for my neighbor tonight. She's an elderly lady and as of early this morning she has been losing blood and they have no idea where from. They have already given her 3 pints and have more ordered and on it's way. She's such a wonderful lady and needs everyone's prayers.

Well, I'm off here till tomorrow. Have a good night everyone

Much Love,
Angie
